At the beginning of June, Cheryl delivered some art-inspired composing workshops in a new venue: The Tetley in Leeds, as part of the gallery’s family workshops programme for the No Quiet Space exhibition. All the exhibits used sound in some way, and many had lights as well as other visual aspects. Cheryl chose to focus on Hanne Lippard’s “Lostisms” in Gallery 1 for inspiration, and in particular its emphasis on the letter s. Most groups chose to perform their finished compositions in the main Leeds Beckett Gallery to the accompaniment of Full Metal Jackets by Anne Walsh and Chris Kubick.
