“The Light On The Leaves” is part of the Silent Early Stroll collection of songs for SATB choir. These seven songs use early stroll tweets from Ian McMillan, all of which contain the word “silent” or “silence”. They were composed for The Bridge Singers during the lockdowns of 2020-2021 and were performed as a set by them in 2022. Each song can also be performed individually. The Light On The Leaves has distinct music for each of Ian’s sentences, each with its own character, but they are unified by a use of a pentatonic scale. The song is for SATB choir but there are optional percussion sounds too.
