Wha Will Buy My Troggin (SATB) (arr.)

£1.00

An arrangement of one of Burns’ last songs, composed in 1796 to help his friend Heron of Heron in his election campaign. It lists many of the candidates in the election, likening them to bric a brac at a market. By the time of the election, Burns had already died. The melody is the Northumbrian tune Buy Broom Besoms by 18th century Newcastle fiddler William Purvis. It is said to have been popular in the Scottish Borders at the time of Burns.

Here is a snippet from a performance by The Bridge Singers, with the audience joining in for the chorus.
