Boo To My Ration Book!

If you’ve been looking for a partner song to go with the WW2 song Hey Little Hen, then this one’s for you. It bemoans food shortages, and in particular the lack of tropical fruit (especially bananas!) in the diets of British people during the 2nd World War. Originally composed for the Year 5 classes at St. Michael’s Academy in Wakefield and performed in the school by them in October 2014, the song has since been taken up by Silver Singers in Wooler to be performed at their Remembrance Day performances in 2015, and has also been included in the repertoire of and enjoyed by Alnwick Silver Singers.
