Christmas at Bailiffgate

Cheryl was asked by the Bailiffgate Singers of Alnwick to be their temporary conductor during the September to Christmas term in 2014 while their regular conductor was on maternity leave. This was a great chance for Cheryl to try her hand at conducting grown-ups for a change, and lots of fun was had by one and all. The culmination of the term was a flurry of Christmas recitals including the Mayor’s Carol Service at St. Michael’s Church in Alwnick, the switching on of the lights festivities in the Market Place, a concert for volunteers at the Bailiffgate Museum and a recital in St. Maurice’s Church Eglingham. The music consisted of lots of Medieval arrangements as well as Cheryl’s own Hodie Christus Natus Est and some carols.
