Monday and Tuesday this week saw the culmination of Yew Tree Youth Music’s 18 month project at St. George’s Community Centre in Lupset, Wakefield in which Cheryl has worked with local youngsters and volunteers, and Sarah Osborne from Yew Tree Youth Theatre to create a musical based on the history, geography and changing atmosphere of the Lupset Estate.
The final dress rehearsal was on Monday in St. George’s Church with some supporters in attendance, then the big performance was on Tuesday evening at 6.15. Clare Dent, one of the audience members later wrote, “We the people from Lupset thank you for creating & showing our kids that they can aspire to anything they want to be. Its was truly ‘something special’ tonight x” Gemma Whelan wrote, “It was just magic Cheryl. You and Sarah should feel very proud.”
In one part of the story, the cast dream of visiting exotic parts of the world, including New Zealand where they sing and perform E Papa, a Maori Stick Game, as you can see in this picture with Cheryl and Tyler in the foreground.
