Poem: Sheep

Sheep.

It’s a sheep!

This little poem was composed with the help of some 5-year-olds in Sunderland. We imagined we were sheep and described what it felt like, and also why we would be a good gift for the shepherds to give to baby Jesus. This resulting poem was used as part of their nativity.

This piece uses melodic and harmonic ideas from a piece of  Sundanese music, which in turn was the subject of a series of study guides and activities about Indonesian music, I was co-writing with with ethnomusicologist, Henry Johnson at Otago University in Dunedin. What a varied musical multiplicity I weave in and out of!
