Swarland Singing

In August 2021, I was approached by a resident of Swarland and asked if I’d like to meet up with “a group of retired ladies” who wanted to start a singing group but didn’t know what to do. I went up there for a meeting and met these ladies, all of whom are very recently retired and all full of joy and energy, and there were men too as it turned out, and a few of them had sung before – at school or in their previous place of residence, but some had never sung before, and so we started to do some singing in the local Swarland Club/Pub on Wednesday evenings, and it turned out that singing is loads of fun and these people are all incredibly lovely, and so it’s a complete treat every week. Our rehearsal space is in the “alternative bar” and apparently while we’re singing, the people in the other bar stop their chatter and listen (once we know the notes) and the manager, who was organizing the singing round the Christmas Tree, asked us if we’d sing a few carols on our own to show the village what we’d been up to. So we did…last night!
