Aves Beati Cuthberti is a processional song inspired by Durham Cathedral. It was originally composed for a school in Sunderland as a single line chant and hymn, and then arranged for SSAATTBB choir with organ, bells and a drum.

The bells represent the bells on St. Cuthbert’s tomb lid in Durham Cathedral . The birds of the title are Eider ducks, otherwise known locally in Northumberland as Cuthbert’s Ducks or Cuddy Ducks, some of the birds Cuthbert himself befriended in his hermitage on the Farne Islands.
