A lyrical setting of Robert Burns’ Wintry poem for solo voice(s) with optional counter-melody and drone-like accompaniment.

Burns’ original poem is said to have been written to commemorate the visit of Prince Charles Stuart to Castle Gordon, before his defeat at Culloden. Burns himself was entertained by the Duke and Duchess at Castle Gordon in 1787.
