A Man’s A Man For A’ That (arr.)

£1.68£2.10

An arrangement of one of Robert Burns’ political poems.

The themes of this political poem made this a very popular one in European countries in the 19th and 20th centuries, and it has been translated into several languages. Burns speaks of a desire for countries to come together to create a better world. He attacks systems of government which make judgements of people based on wealth, and extols the virtues of self-esteem and independence of mind no matter how poor people may be. It was performed by Sheena Wellington at the opening of the Scottish Parliament in 1999.

Towards the bottom of the page is an excerpt from The Bridge Singers’ Burns Night concert in 2018. The audience joined in with the last verse.
