July has come bursting in with storms and fierce sunshine. Let’s hope the music is just as dramatic with these aural snippets of my life as a freelance composer.
June has burst upon us and hopefully with it there’ll be lots of new musical ideas bursting too. This is a sound and music diary of the day-to-day life of a freelance composer.
Composing a song for some Year 6 pupils as they prepare to leave the primary school part of their lives and move on.
Using the River Wear in Northeast England as inspiration, a primary school and I created a musical journey from the North Pennines down to the North Sea, stopping off to explore on the way.
Using a river for musical inspiration has proved to be a fruitful tactic when composing for myself or with a classful or schoolful of children!
Now spring is here, no doubt new compositions will be bursting into life. You can track their progress here during the month of May.
