Now Westlin Winds (arr.)

£1.04£1.30

A lyrical, flowing arrangement of Robert Burns’ meditation on the game-shooting season.

The lyrics to this song were published in the Kilmarnock Edition of Burns’ poems in 1786 and the heroine of the tale is Peggy Thomson who lived next door to the Kirkoswalk School where Burns studied trigonometry. He said “She upset all my sines and co-sines, and it was in vain to think of doing any more good at school.” There are several traditional melodies used for this poem, but this is the one that The Bridge Singers like the best! The lyrics tell of conflicting emotions during the game shooting season.

Here is an excerpt from a performance by The Bridge Singers.
